It seems we are going to be snow bombed! FGS none of this is new, I remember all sorts of weather half a century ago when I was a saucepan. Why do we have to get so dramatic? .....and while we are at it every time the wind exceeds one of my jam tarts the day after a ruby it get's a kin name! I can just about understand naming Hurricanes but every light breeze? Perlease they'll be giving them non binary pronouns next! ......rant over!

Snow in June 1976 as well.

The phrase 'since records began' is designed to mislead.  If I remember rightly all previous recordings were discarded in the mid 19thC. as a new system took over.  I'm open  to correction on detail on this, but I do know that older records were discarded.  There are plenty of records of massive flooding in  London  in 1918, I think it was..... whatever. Defoe records huge floods in the North in the late 1700's.  We've had a bit of snow, but it is winter! I well remember deep snow as a child in the '50's & '60s and as a married woman in the early 1980's I had to rescue my parents from deep snow.

It seems as if, for some reason, the weather pundits are trying to make their pitch for being powerful scaremongers; but this has  to be wrong, surely?

I remember the terrible weather we got in N Devon in Feb 1978. It wasn't a 'weather bomb' it was just a bad storm which tended to happen in February.

"since records began" is designed to fool gullible idiots. 99.9999% of the earth's weather occured before records began. So a bookie would lay very short odds that any weather "since records began" is not the hottest, coldests etc ever.

Papers like the Express and the Sun are too blame for their constant speculation and exagerration of weather events.

Weather forecasts now are way more accurate than they were even 20 years ago. Trust the Met Office rather than the way OTT newspapers

Snow news is good news.
