I'm not proud or ashamed of it. It wasn't my doing.
Well I'm not ashamed to be British. I'm not sure I could say the same if I were Saudi Arabian for instance.
yes, I believe in equality, justice, fairness, democracy, kindness, all of which i think are qualities of most of the British i know and come across in a long life.

I am proud to be English.
Don't really know what that means ?

If I lived somewhere like North Korea, or some other dictatorship, I probably wouldn't be proud.

But Britain is like most democracies and I can't see any reason to be ashamed.
I'm proud to be English.
For those that say they are proud to be English, does that mean you are not proud of being British as well, and if so, why ?
Mikey //If I lived somewhere like North Korea, or some other dictatorship, I probably wouldn't be proud.//. If you lived in N Korea and weren't proud you'd be dead.
BHG....lol !
I am also proud to be English.

The English language is spoken throughout the World, we hold certain long traditions, that are copied throughout the World, we had renowned inventors, explorers and a long history which included the Kings & Queens of England.

The Scottish, Irish and Welsh however are allowed to be proud of their countries, but "proud to be English" is something that is frowned upon these days.
By who?
Born in England.....Made In Britain. :))
Born in London ..which is England. .which is great Britain. .which is the uk ...proud of em all!!
Never given it a thought ...PROUD? by that do you mean "better than?"
Born in England, worked all my life in England.......met colleagues from other countries whom i have admired from the USA in particular, certain European countries.......but PROUD has never entered into it.
Well....perhaps a little...when the Red Arrows display came to Menorca......perhaps then.
Pride in my country has never formed a major part of my relationships....I admire, hard work, expertise and success from any part of the world.
what Sqad said, except for the Menorca bit
