Cannabis Advice Please!
No I'm not taking it and never have!! I've discovered that someone very close to me is growing it in their garage behind a secret wall, and then harvesting it and selling it. It's meant to be a one off thing but I'm really shocked. I had no idea as I have no sense of smell. I've told them( it's the man doing it but woman knows) how stupid they are being, and the woman isn't happy about it at but he says he's just doing it to get some money for the family. Apart from being worried sick for them it suddenly occurred to me - what on earth would happen if the police turned up whilst I was there?? Would I be arrested??

I can't see any reason why you'd be arrested, Smowball, if you've had nothing to do with it. You're not a conspirator. Nor are you called upon to decide if other people are breaking the law. Nor are the police going to go up and down your street arresting everyone in case they "knew" about it (if they're daft enough to question anyone, just tell them what you've already said: you've got no sense of smell). Don't be one of those neighbours writing poison pen letters from behind their net curtains. Take TheChair's advice.

If it was someone close to me – however close – I would make it very clear that I had no intention of visiting their premises whilst the cannabis is being grown there. The maximum penalty for cultivation of cannabis is 14 years custody (though longer sentences are only imposed where industrial scale production is evident). Your situation if the police should raid whilst you were there is not as straightforward as The Chair and others suggest. You may be arrested until the police are sure you have no involvement and whilst it is unlikely you would face any charges it could be an uncomfortable episode.
Steer clear, tell them why you are doing so and hope that common sense eventually prevails.

Cannabis causes huge problems, I know my daughter is a user! It has taken over her life. She actually told me 'Dope is more important than my kids!'
Modern cannabis is not like the old 'weed' of the 1970's , it is 'Skunk ' over 50 times as strong and it causes sever mental health problems!!
Report it using the crime stoppers online or phone number!
Or put the address and post code on here and I'll report them ! I have a crimestoppers ID I have reported drug dealers but not yet a grower!

If you don't live anywhere near them then why not as I said type a letter saying you're a neighbor and can smell the cannabis and will be tell the police.
That will scare him into getting rid of the plants pronto, no police intervention needed unless you have an emotional tie to this person or sympathise with their money issues?
I don't wish to pry but how bad is their money issues if you can say?
