I have just been told that the Restaurant I work at has been sold and will close in two weeks. I will have a choice of voluntary redundancy or they,ll try to place me in another restaurant within the chain. Please can you give me your views on statutory notice/Payment.I have been with the company for 8 years. Thank you.

If it is just statutory redundancy pay (and it probably is for a small employer) then there is a calculator here

I suspect that it depends on the terms offered and the ease at which you could walk into another job.
so far they are doing it by the book

I think the pay off is something like a week pay for every year worked

I would stick with them if other joobs are hard to come by
Has the business been sold? If it has there should be a TUPE transfer for all staff
They should give you 8 weeks notice of redundancy, or pay you in lew of notice.
