Whatever your views on rascism, homophobia, sexism etc, should this be illegal for two people to express their views via private texts and emails ?

This is in regards to the Malky McKay incident

Today's old folk have known for at least 40 years that certain terms are not acceptable. Love Thy Neighbour and Til Death Us Do Part were broadcast int he 1970s.

It never ceases to amaze me that we have so many ABers who so easily feel offended on behalf of others who most likely didn't even realise they should have felt offended in the first place.
The question isn't that Baldric. Mckay didn't have a private "conversation". It got out and his club (ex) we're right to sanction him. As for people justifying racial, homophobic comments it really doesn't have anything to do with the thread
And it never ceases to amaze me how many ABers believe they are in a private club that only accepts members of the same colour and creed as themselves

Then why did you introduce it @ 23:46 ?
I didn't. Jeza introduced it 23:30. I responded.

Nothing Racist in Jezas post, telling it as it was.
I live in a small market town. Round here most people are white. You have to go to the market to see black, indians, etc. I will say again they mean no harm.
Nothing racist? What tosh. You should both be ashamed
who's saying it's illegal? It's an FA investigation.

I'm 63, I grew up in Rural Berkshire, there were not many Immigrants, the one's there were referred to as Coloureds, no offence was intended, that was what they were to the Locals, everyone got along just fine.
What should I be ashamed of milvus? The fact that most of my neighbours are old and I'm trying to tell you as they see it.
Baldric, I too am 63. My husband as a young man played cricket with a bloke from Barbados. His nickname was Chalky, he had no problem with it he was just one of the team. I think all this PC stuff is totally out of hand.

In response to 00:07, I went on to spend a long time as a RM, travelled a lot of the World, worked alongside people of all backgrounds, and have never experienced a problem based on race or colour, unless they were trying to shoot me, my comment at 00:10 refers to attitudes in my childhood, which were beyond my control.
No Jeza, only that you sanction it. Baldric I am closing in on 70, from the East End of London. All these terms denigrate the recipient. But it seems if everyone else uses the same terms its OK.
I don't think so
Jeza, using that to excuse old people was probably justified 40 years ago. Not now, now matter how rural and isolated they are. It seems to me you are saying they are country bumpkins who know no better, have never seen a black person nor watched a film or tv in their lives and don't have children of their own to correct them.
I bet they all love Paul Robeson and Sammy Davis Jr, though :)
Jeza, was that cricketer's surname White, by any chance?
I don't sanction anything Milvus. We are all different. I too have lived in London. Lots of Asians in the 80's when I lived there. Enough said.
I think your post 23:30 does. However enough. Back to the original question. M Mackay should never have made any of those comments
When I was a young boy in the early 50s I remember walking with her when a black man appeared. As I had never seen a live one before, except in books, I cried "Look mam, there's a real live N****r". My mother pulled me to one side and said, "Don't use that word, it upsets their feelings. It's more polite to call them D*****s".
