Hi am new to this and would really like some answers. My partner got invovled in a fight and had trial the jury found him guilty and judge give him section 18. He is in remand now for 3 weeks untill the judge decide his sentance, how long do you think he will get? He has no previous conviction and this is his very first time in prison. It would be great to get some answers getting really stressed.

Okay thank you for your answer jus hope he doesnt get too long specialy when his friends did more damage and there still wating on trial and they cant own up to it now hes payin their price.
Section 18 is a very serious offence , it's full name is GBH with intent.
On the scale of violent offenses it is only one step down from attempted murder.
There is a minimum of 3 years in prison for this offence so I am sorry but you are not going to see your partner for a long time. The maximum sentence is life !
I will look up the sentence guide lines and put them up in another answer very soon.

Sorry that should be
1 Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with intent (section 18) , the 'with intent ' bit is important it makes it a lot more serious. Sorry.
