I was attacked and robbed the other night in newham. I feel so angry I want to go after them, find them and hurt them.
What is the best way I can deal with these feelings?

My son almost lost an eye during a pub attack. His eye will never be normal and he will need eye checks for the rest of his life.

I was really concerned that when he went out again he would try and find the guy who did it. The attacker was allowed to leave the pub without a finger lifted by the bouncer (call them what you will) who saw it happen. And the police? .....let's not go there.

My son was very afraid while we waited to see if he would lose his eye. He was in shock, tearful and needed a hug or six and looking after. I think one of the reasons he has been able to move on from it is the thought that it could have been much worse.

I still dread that he may well encounter this man again one day, or night, tho ...

Robert, you do not mention you are physically unhurt so I assume it. Emotions can run into one another. It has probably crossed your mind that it could have been worse for you and you may well still be shocked. Maybe a few tears may release some of what you feel....
Well I'm not in the least bit qualified to deal with the psychological damage this attack has done to you, so you may wish to consult your G.P. In fact you should do this ASAP for evidence of physical and mental injury. Because:

It may help you to know that as a way of our society apologising to you for being the victim of a cowardly attack, you may be able to qualify for criminal injuries compensation. You won't get compensation for the losses from the robbery, but you should be able to get some amount of financial compensation out of being physically injured, and mentally scarred.

Make sure you report all details to the police too!

See Police, GP, and then CICA - in that order. Hopefully that will make you feel a wee bit better.
I hope youve reported it, as stu says.

The feelings will lessen but prob never leave, I survived an attack in 1987 and its as clear today as it was then. Diff kind of situation mind you.
Sorry to hear that Robert, sounds like a horrible experience. Seems to me you have been offered some good advice so far and I can't really add to it except to try and not dwell on the negative feelings (revenge, anger etc.) Sorry I can't be any more help

All the best mate

Don't stoop to their level. I've posted on here loads of times over the past year after my son was attacked, he was injured but physically it wasn't serious it was more the mental side, he basically lost a year of his life he has had to re do his A level year, lost touch with hs friends, his childhood stammer returned with a vengance, he was so angry and his confidence disappeared. The offender was prosecuted but let off lightly, he lives near us so we have to endure seeing him on a regular basis but finally this week we have closure to the whole event after my son was awarded a payment from Criminal Injuries although the government should not have to pay for the actions of Scum like this we feel that this is finally the end of it and my son can get on with his life. So Robert it may take time but people like this don't deserve any time you might loose thinking bad thoughts about them, try and put it behind you and get on with your life. Take Care x

These scum will continue to roam the streets to rob and beat up innocent people until they get the same done to them

Even if they get arrested they`ll probably get off with a slapped wrist and 100 hours community service

I feel sorry for you hearing what happened, I can`t advise you to take revenge on these lowlifes but if you happen to see any of them whilst out driving your car and they happen to cross the road infront of you.....well.... they just stepped out and you didn`t have time to brake did you?

Thanks for your cool comments! yeah phoned 999 from a phone box, car turned up after 15mins. we had a drive around but couldn't see them, the police took some details and drove me home.
It's 4 dayz since it happened and being outside at night is difficult. I just can't stop wanting to go out and find them, get a better look at them and maybe ask where my phone is?
I've been here for 6 years and I'm gradually thinking I can't tame this place!
suggest you rent or buy 'death wish' starring charles bronson

it will give you some ideas

i kn ow how you feel,i was a victim of an attack like this last april, but set upon by 2 youths about 16 years old.
because i fought back with one of the youths the other one decided to join in.
i suffered a lost tooth,2 black eyes, and a dislodged tragus(the skin in between your nostrils)and there footprints embedded on my head for a week.
luckily a neighbour rang an ambulance and the police, had to have a head scan, tooth replaced.
i think if my neighbour had not of been there ,i would not be answering this question today.
thet never caught them.
i went to a solicitor and put a claim in of which is now pending what award of money they should think i should receive.
and also i am moving out of the area i live in,and i cant f****n wait.
i know how you feel.but if you do anything about it it will be you who gets in trouble for taking the law into your own hands.
GET THE CLAIM IN...GOOD LUCK

Hey thanks. Really appreciate it!
reading stories like this make me so flippin angry that I want to track them down and give them a beating to teach them a lesson, time is a great healer as they say , you will get over it but you will always be looking over your shoulder, I have always found that when faced with a good hiding , just pick on the biggest and give it all you can and then leave the scene , if you go down curl up tight ...... little gits ....
