Electricity at Wooden Stables

Can I have electricity installed at temporary wooden stables? Any advice would be welcome as in the long term we would build a home.

Why not, we have electricity in our shed?

We had electricity install into a cabinet when we did that which is a sort little box like structure outside- then we tapped of from there.

Yes, but a new installation would have to be inspected for electrical safety and provided with a certificate.

Its perfectly possible but the cost will depend upon the nearest available supply. You'll need to contact the Lecci company for a quote. If its miles away from anywhere they'll have a bigger job that if its just a few yards from another building .

Sorry, I'd assumed that it was near an existing building, you could just run it across.

Looking at other posts I think Percy has a static caravan on land in a caravan and wants to start living on the land.
Are the stables used for horses, Percy?

yup.. I ran some armoured cable to the bottom of the garden fitted an outdoors junction box and ran it into my oh's playshed...I also run garden lights from it...cable has to be buried and of high spec...and fitted by someone suitably qualified..

Thanks for answers. Electricity Board has asked for Plans and Planning Permission for future house. We have had our Generator stolen and so looking to install electricity before house build.

Do you have horses then Percy or are the Stables being put up just as a means of getting electricity supplied to your caravan?

Perce, it's much the same as applying for a new service to a building site. I usually put up a site hut/caravan or whatever, then have the service and meter installed in there.
Technically...... they'll probably ask for a simple distribution board with a consumer unit something like this..............

You would probably need an earth rod in the ground as well.
I guess the reason for seeing drawings etc is to ensure that they have someone to chase for the bill.
