Although there are guidelines there is no legal weight. It is more down to how you lift, how you carry and lifting within your own capabilities.

See here for some good info or look on the HSE website

It would not be practical to have legal maximum weights. Different people have different capabilities.

If you lift as part of your work - however small a part - then you should receive training in lifting and handling techniques. That training should include personal risk assessment, ie. how capable you are of lifting that object safely, on your own/with a partner etc. The onus is then on you to decide what is safe for you.

If you feel something is too heavy, then you are within your rights to refuse to lift it.

There are no set weights.
