I'm about to complete an English Literature Degree, but have always wanted and now more than ever want to get into social work - i dont know why i didnt do it in the first place! But would i have to do another degree to get into social work? or is there another way to do it?

Social work is a CHALLENGING job!


Don't commit to it too quickly. I understand your reasons for wanting to do it, but so many social workers end up spending so much of their time feeling compromised that it is sometimes hard to see the joy in it.


I would recommend doing a bit of voluntary work in a social work team or at least going and talking to a few before you change any big plans.


I don't mean to sound pessimistic because it can be a great job, but many people are in it and find it hard to leave - even though they want to!

I agree shivvy. Nursing is similar in that you have to really want to do it. Im away back to uni to study pharmacy in September. I dont regret being a nurse as such, its just not what I expected it to be.
