How can i study for this at home? Does anyone know where i can get the study books, how it is examined, what it would cost and exactly how to go about it if you are not working in the industry?

If you mean financial securities, such books are probably published by McGraw-Hill or Thomson Financial. Amazon will have them.

Do you mean the Securities and Investments Institute certificates.

If so, I had a number of staff who I put through the old Registered Representative exams. These have been replaced by the Certificates of the SII.

We used two training companies who provided "Home Study" packs. (probably all done on-line now). Hyperion and BPP Financial were the companies and in general got better results through Hyperion, though this may have been the staff's propensity to study.

Everyone found the papers on regulatory environment the hardest part of the exams. Try the SII website www.securities-institute.org.uk for more info on providers.

They also provide details on the examination process.

and good luck with the studies.
