It would appear not. If this goes on we will need an inquiry into the inquiry.

Joking apart though does anyone know why this is happening?
It makes all the Brexit stuff look like a doddle...
There are obviously machinations going on behind closed doors that concern a worryingly significant number of senior legal people sufficient to make them walk away from this enquiry.

We the public are unlikely ever to know the full extent of what is going on - but the government certainly needs to get a grip of this, and quickly, before the same public loses any and al faith in what is going on.

If the enquiry is beset by this level of issues before it even starts its work properly, then it does not bode well for progress and results.
Wonder how much money they all make out of it Mikey. before they decide to resign?.
Some might say that m'learned friends are obstructed by high placed individuals and rather than waste any more time fighting the system, move on.
I don't know this of course, me being a mere pleb, but it would be my guess.
I suggest a large part of the problem is that few lawyers want to be tied up on the same case for many years. It has been said that this will last over 10 years. Ten years of hearing nonstop cases of child abuse would be too much for me if I was a barrister, I would not be able to handle it.
Yes, I'd like to know that too Gulliver.
But they know that up front Eddie, so why put themselves forward?

Unless it is to cream a million off before going of course.
Suppression! - ooooooh it all reeks of corruption!!
Further to my last point, I think there is a danger that all the best most skilled barristers will be able to get other less 'harrowing or distressing ' work and this enquiry will end up with only those who have nothing better to do!
Eddie > there is a danger that all the best most skilled barristers will be able to get other less 'harrowing or distressing ' work

If they were the 'best' they wouldn't touch this inquiry with a bargepole.

YMB....it would seem that these Lawyers has grave misgivings regarding the competency of the leadership of the Inquiry.

And who can blame them ? There have now been 4 Chairs, and all have left under a cloud. Anybody who steps up to the plate to take on any position in this Inquiry, from the Chair downwards, is being handed a poisoned chalice, of gargantuan proportions.

If this Inquiry succeeds, it will almost certainly find wholesale abuse of children everywhere in British society. There are too many toes to be trodden on in the process, so I am not the slightest bit surprised that the Inquiry is being constantly derailed, every few weeks.

My concern is the sexual exploitation of children is not something that just happened in the past, but that it is still happening NOW. And as long as this farce continues, those perverts responsible for that abuse will just see a green light to continue.
it's a pointless endevor anyway, abandon it and move on. We are obsessed with having Inquiries about things that don;t need Inquiring about. drop it.

Could it be that the so-called Establishment is protecting the Establishment?

TTT....if we ignore the mistakes of the past, than we are condemned to constantly repeat those same mistakes.

Baldric...that is an easy and tempting conclusion to come to, and I have a certain amount of sympathy with it. The establishment have already successfully shielded previous perpetrators of sexual abuse.

But an Inquiry of this sort has to be led from the top, and as long as that top keeps changing, then the whole credibility of the Inquiry is undermined.
who said anything about ignoring the mistakes of the past?

This inquiry has been farcical since the outset, 4 chairs unsuitable ,the last one from half way around the world has refused to explain in person her reason for leaving, Theresa May selected these chairwomen don't forget.I do believe this can of worms is just too hot to handle, The " establishment " I believe will do all in it's power to prevent any true facts to be published, that is why so many lawyers are resigning. As for the victims..........they will never see justice.
TTT, You said it at 09.13 !!!
Drop it and move on !!!!!!!! I'm sure there maybe quite a few " people" share your opinion like the perpetrators ?
No eddie, I said this whole charade is pointless, we can still act on what we know and have learnt. No need for a time consuming "feed the lawyers" inquiry to tell us what we already know.
