Why do sports tv presenters insist on trying to interview contestants who have just finished competing? They can hardly get their breathe and are expected to answer all the questions thrown at them. It is annoying to listen to and so un-necessary, why couldn't they just wait for a few minutes and then have a proper conversation with them, instead of the stop start gasping of people trying to speak when they really need to breathe!

Because if they politely wait a few minutes a less polite presenter will get in there first?

Yes,good point and sadly all too common... For the sake of a few minutes a better interview would result (unless it was Linford 'well you know' Christie.
