Now's the time to see money ( If any) getting spent, would you go deep into debt to give your child a good Xmas? are your older members of the family getting the same value items as the did last year? It would be interesting how persons out there are couping with the hard times.

Not spending a penny again this year. Can't afford it.
Over-priced and over-hyped just for one day.
It would be interesting if you answered one of your own questions . Well if not interesting.....different.
What's wrong with putting this in the Christmas section?
i'll probably save money, i wont be at work so won;t be walking through the retails park every day....
I go into debt every Xmas. That's why I hate January.
I love to buy my family presents at christmas. This year, two members of my family will not be doing presents because they are short on cash, but I will still give them a present because I enjoy it, I don't give to receive. However, although I buy presents every year, they are always within whatever my budget is at that time and I expect that's the same for most people. I have never known anyone get in to debt just for christmas, but perhaps that just a reflection on my own family and the people I know.
I'll definitely be spending less this year. Now estranged from my brother, his nutter of a girlfriend and (sadly) my niece and nephew. So less to buy.

#2 child is only 7 months old, and is getting nothing other than a Christmas bib and a wooden train made out of the letters of her name (sounds weird, I know). #1 on the other hand is getting a peddle cart thing which cost us the bulk of the budget. She's getting nothing now until she's 30.

Who's Penny, the wife?
Christmas is for kids only.
I agree with everything Scrooge says, until he spoils the story at the end.
Same as last year and no, I would never go into debt to give my child a good xmas. I try all year to give them a good and happy life...
We are not 'over the top' with gifts but I'm suprised NO-ONE seems to go into debt -really? not even putting the pressie money on your credit card and paying it offs in say 2 or 3 installments? this year youngest son is over the age of when Santa comes and although i totally disagree with his chosen gift (X Box) he will get it with a few stocking fillers. I am making quite a few foodie gifts this year as my Sloe gin went down a treat last year -this year sloe Gin, morrello cherries in brandy and mixed dried fruits in spiced rum, home made crab apple jelly and choccie truffles.
Well I don't have a credit card so that's a no from me.
No, we wont be going into debt for xmas.
Luckily, none of mine want anything 'big' so they won't be disappointed with whatever they get. They will get far too much though (but we don't buy them stuff during the year apart from their birthdays) but we won't be going into debt or using credit cards, etc.
Yes, it will be a poor Xmas here with 2 birthdays as well
I spend what I can, and that really varies from year to year. I think people will be getting better pressies this year, even though I have around £300 less to spend. Last year, I got all the pressies on Christmas Eve, so I panicked and got all sorts of rubbish. This year, I have bargain hunted, researching and comparing prices, and bought most online. I'm certainly not going to make myself broke for Xmas
Credit cards have certainly transformed Xmas. Previously people used to save by paying weekly into store Xmas clubs, to lessen the burden come December. My mother used to pay 1/- per week into the church chocolate club which gave me a plethora of selection boxes come Xmas Day. I actually used to get to the point where I was sick of chocolate, for a short while.
