If your spouse dies and has left a will so that you inherit
all money , house etc . does it have to go to probate ?
Also if you die intestate with no money for the funeral
and are buried by the parish does that have to go to
probate , as the contents of the property have to be
removed .tia

A grant is almost always needed when the person who dies leaves one or more of the following:

£5,000
stocks or shares
certain insurance policies
property or land held in their own name or as 'tenants in common'

Are you in Scotland? Things may be different there.
Well the contents of the house will have to be sold to at least part pay for the funeral. You wouldn't need probate for it though.
