This doesn't make much sense, why would the police stop someone for inadvertantly hitting a kerb during a 3 point turn?

To answer your question though, driving without insurace is not tolerated and the most likely course of action will be when you'll be slapped with a fine and banned from driving for a year.

Maximum fine £5000.

6-8 points on your licence. If you passed your test within two years, this will revoke your licence and you will return to learner status.

Almost definite ban.

Your mother may also be prosecuted, if she allowed you to drive the car. If she didn't, you'll also be done for driving without consent.

You cannot have points and a ban for the same offence. It's either one or the other.

Magistrates' sentencing guidelines for No Insurance suggest, as Ethel says, six to eight points. Whilst magistrates do have the option to impose a ban for the singlr offence alone, they are unlikely to do so unless there are aggravating circumstances.

Didn't relaise you'd posted twice.

How unlucky were you to have been driving for all of two seconds and were caught by the police because you ''hit a kerb doing a 3-point turn''.

It's rubbish isn't it - let's just hope it isn't a first offence and you go to jail

Alas, one cannot be sent to prison for no insurance, no matter how many times one commits the offence.

2yrs....if u passed within the last two years , your licence will be revoked (banned) ..if u accumalate 12 points or more , NO INSURANCE is normally 9 points or 6 points... you didnt damage another vehicle , because if u had , you could have been given a straight ban , of 3 months , but for this offence you will get 6-9 points ( prob - six points ) ...and fine .... you may not have to attend court if , by letter you reply GUILTY and send your licence in to the court... this is on the assumption , you do not have oints on licence , prior to this incident ...hitting the kerb blah blah blah...
