can you buy a house in america and then get a green card without living there. it woud be residential, not holiday lets though no one would actually live in it. we are thinking of investments and a new life out there when older.

i thought it was virtually impossible for a uk citizen to get a green card?
what would the point of a green card be if you dont live in the US anyway?

and no, its not easy to get a green card or visa with no connection in the US, buying a house isnt a connection
You can buy property in USA and live there for short periods - I think max 6 months, then you have to exit. A UK friend of mine lives in Florida for the permitted amount of time and then returns to UK for a short period. She also manages to "work" without a green card. The local golf club lets her play free of charge and in return she works in the Pro Shop.
Good grief McMouse, your mate must be loaded!
