I've no idea why this is happening but it's bugging the life out of me. When I want to scroll up on a screen, I usually use my mouse wheel and all is well but from yesterday, when I scroll up, the screen doesn't scroll so much as it goes up in waves and it takes ages to get anywhere. The only thing different from yesterday is that I installed a new HP printer but that's all....surely installing a printer wouldn't affect scrolling would it? Please help as it's driving me nuts!! Ta muchly!! K xx

Is it a wireless mouse? If so batteries could be going.
The HP drivers may be interfering with the Graphics drivers.
Go to the HP website and read through in Support to see if there are fixes or a patch for this problem.
You need to check your Device Manager in Control Panel to check exactly which Graphics card, or onboard graphics (and their drivers) you have.
It IS possible your Graphics drivers need updating to latest version.
Best do that after checking HP site.
Make sure you know exact printer model. HP site can be configured to check your Printer drivers (and for updates) automatically. You will have to allow some ActiveX component for this.
If the printer is close to your monitor, try moving it. (The magnetic field from the printer could be affecting your monitor).

If that doesn't work you might need to reinstall your video driver.

Thanks guys - I do appreciate you all stopping by and giving me some ideas to get me started....I'll check back with you once it's sorted to let you know how I go. Thanks again! K xx
Sounds to me like it's using the standard (non-accelerated) Microsoft drivers for the graphics card.

Goto the support link on the computer manufacturers website, find the video drivers for your computer download and install them again.
As a corollary to Chris' response; if your mouse is a wireless model, make sure the receiver/transmitter (the little black thing with a short wire about ten inches long plugged into a port on your computer) isn't near the new printer and make sure that it hasn't been moved about so as to be blocked by a metallic something or other, such as your monitor...
