My friend has just taken delivery of his very 1st computer,it is a Dell Inspiron 545. Because he is a complete novice he has asked me to help in setting it up. As it is to run in Windows Vista, & my PC is XP, are there any points or problems I should be aware of ? I have heard stories about Vista being difficult & would appreciate all answers.Ron.

I think the "problems" with Vista are over exagerrated.

I guess the biggest "pain" is that is keeps asking you if you want to do something if it involves any "system" type work (this is a security measure to stop viruses changing system settings).

So while you are setting up his computer you may get a few messages asking "do you really want to do this". You reply Yes and carry on.

You may get a few messages like this at first, but they soon tail off once the computer is set up.

The other thing to note is that Outlook Express is now called Windows Mail, but to be honest it is almost exactly the same as Outlook Express.

The user interface is different, but you will soon get used to that.

Apart from that I think you will notice little difference to XP (except Vista is slower, even on a fast PC !).
