My Grandmother gave me a knitting pattern many years ago possibly via The Salvation Army for a short scarf that was garter stitch throughout but with a ribbed band in the middle which the scarf crossed through. It just went roung the neck and would be easily made in a evening. I cannot find this pattern but I made one for my Mum and many people have said they would like one. Does anyone have such a pattern?

Have a look here under Ascot scarf and Knitted Ascot .The knitted ascot looks like a very old pattern that some one has scanned .You can click on it and enlarge it .

this type of scarf although not garter stitch throughout was a pattern in this month's "Lets Knit" magazine. Maybe you could browse through the pages in a newsagents to see if its the type of thing you want. hope this helps with your question
