as far as i know it used to work when my sis had it, but never has for me

This is a typical symptom of poor signal reception. Maybe the signal was stronger at your sister's place?

ahh i see. i am on the 3rd floor tho in a roof bedroom...shouldnt the signal be pretty clear? or could my aerial be broken? its an indoor one

ahh so, i need a rooftop aerial ideally... but what can i do if i dont have one? the set top aerial is just a basic standard one...??

You can get 'stronger' ones, amplifiers, I think they call them. I don't know if they're any good though. I'm right near a transmitter, so get freeview ok, but they're working on it at the moment, so all the neighbours etc are having probs, works going on 'til May ! Have you tried the old standing on one leg with your hand on your hip?? ;-)
