not sure what Hotpoint it is that you have, but it sounds very much like a blockage Google *hotpoint Error Code f05* see if that helps i remember mine came alright in the end

To get the water out, take the drain hose out of the drain pipe and lower it as close as possible to floor level - into a bowl/bucket of course

As to the error code - no idea sorry.

sounds like the pump is bocked/jammed

As above said simply lower drain hose and it will eventually empty the water.

it's a really easy job to sort if you have a mechanical mind just remove the pump from the machine then take the housing off clean it and put together the same way it come apart!

I' have this prob on occasion but mine is not a hotpoint.
I will pour boiling water into the soap compartments to ensure it's scum free.
Turn the dial to a place I know empties the water ie: before fabric conditioner. Sometimes an extra umpp removes the blockage.
Turn the dial to a place I know begins a spin. Sometimes an extra spin has cleared it.
If non of the above work after several attempts I will manouver the washing maching and rock it to gauge the amoung of water left in and also it helps, wiggle the pipe that carries the water away.
Try a short cycle from beginning which after the above can usually sort the problem.
