My oven is making a horrible noise from the fan, noisy rattle, and the heat isn't circulating... has it died or can it be repaired? It's over 10 years old

I had the same problem and it just turned out to be that the fan had come loose. Five or ten minutes saw a replacement fitted.
These sort of fans are self lubricating but after a lot of use (10 years) they run dry and rattle \i have had mine replaced recently and it is now fine,
With the cooker cold switch it off at the cooker switch, Unscrew the fan guard from inside the oven and check the fan turns without touching the element , if the fan catches it you can adjust the element slightly by slackening the screws and re tightening them . take into consideration the element expands when it is hot , just make sure there is enough room all the way round the fan , re assemble it , switch it back on and listen again , hope that cures it as i had a similar problem .
