My printer is old but was up and running on Sat.

However I am trying out some emails and unfortunately have run out of paper ie about 4 pages left. So wont let me print.

Would the the loss of not enough pages cause this. I have maintained etc the printer is epsun stylus C46.

Also the lights of he printer are going out which never done before. I have plugged and unplugged etc - will go out soon and get paper oh by the black ink is completely finished but there is some coloured ink - which I thought could have done the job. Thanks

Your printer will not print if there is no paper in it.

It will print with no black ink left, but if you have the settings on 'black and white' and not 'colour' then it will not print until you change the settings or get some ink.

reto there is about 5 pages left - where will I find colour - will go back and a have another nosey.
Question Author
can't find the colour button
It will be in your computer settings, not on the printer
From what I can glean online that printer requires all the ink carts to have some ink in order to print.
Yu can't print the five pages left if you have no paper -or have you now got sojme? If you have then click 'print' on your computer and you will get a box come up. Go TO Print -PROPERTIES -FEATURES- COLOUR OPTIONS -make sure the COLOUR button is highlighted - if not click on it -the other button is 'GREYSCALE and will only use the black ink (which you have run out of).

As a last resort copy the text of the remaining email into a Word document and change the colour to a dark blue or purple and then print it out.
But I know nothing of the model, so may be wrong.

I will just go out and buy paper and black ink - colour always worked on the printer never computer in its life.

Also because of my trying to print too much I have amassed 46 wasted paper. Where can I get that off on my printer - for the life I can't rememember
I don't understand printers, my sons do mine for me, I prefer send letters hand written, I know that the printer is set up through my computer, you should try what retrochic recommends, if you can't understand that, go to library and print it off. 46 pages, how many times did you click the print button? My guess, you kept pressing with impatience
To cancel any print jobs that have queued up go to 'PRINTERS AND DEVICES' -click on Printer- click CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS.

My husband does this often he clicks 'print' and nothing happens so he clicks it again and again and then the whole thing jams up
Go and find a young teenager - they will sort it out double quick
Question Author
at venator - what - ask a a young teenager
when all you get grunt grunt grunt - oh no sireee -
Question Author
retrochic - believe it or not I know about the printer business cos I did it 40 years - but when I click on printer - I can't see the 46 pages.
You have to know the right ones to ask.
where can you see the 46 pages then?
Question Author
retro - it used to be when you click on to your printer your 46 pages were there when I go on to printer you could have got rid of 46 pages

Here goes this is what it says

Epson Properties (I know about that)

Status: Error46 doc waiting
Type: Epson Style C46 Series M
Where: USB001 or USBDD1 - not very clear
The paper is normally a switch inside the printer which requires paper to operate it and allow the machine to print. A single sheet of paper is sufficient. If you try to print 5 pages and there are only 4 sheets of paper in the printer it will print 4 pages and then stop.
Most printers require ALL cartridges to have some ink in before the printer will operate. Even if you are trying to print a back & white document they require the colour cartridges to have some ink in.
Your problem is, almost certainly, due to an empty printer cartridge.
