I have been using my basic Vodaphone for 5 years now, but had the opportunity to get a new Vodaphone smart mini for £6 from £50 with Tesco boost double up. I have no one at home to show me what to do (I am a pensioner), I have managed to put in the Sim card and set the language. I did not want a contract and was told I can pay £10 month for texts phone calls and internet, inclusive. It feels a bit like when I first got the computer, it scares me. Can anyone point me in the right direction ? TIA

Tamaris, I don't know but I'll be watching this thread with interest. I've been using a basic Nokia for years and am thinking of upgrading.

Snags do you think I could get all this info from the manufacturers, as there is too much to print ?
Surprised you didn't get a user manual with the handset. You can save/download that above pdf to your desktop if you wish.

It was very small I can hardly see it, thank you a great help
You can't beat experimenting and learning by trial and error. Suggest turning off data first and using wifi, it'll prove cheaper. Too much to put in a post. Maybe many folk could add tips ?
Once the link has loaded move your cursor to the bottom right of the screen, move it about a bit and an option to enlarge will appear. Click on the magnifying glass with + in it a few times.

Sorry OG and 1ozzy, no idea what you mean
""It was very small I can hardly see it, thank you a great help""

If you click on the link that Snags supplied, when it has loaded you can enlarge the print.
The option to do this doesn't appear unless you move your "mouse" to the bottom right of the page. You may have to move it around a little in this location then a grey panel will appear.

You will also have the option to save it into you computor for further reference.

Hope this helps
I mean that a smart phone has the ability to access the Internet as one of the differences between it and a basic normal mobile phone.

That depending on your account with your phone service provider they will either give you a data allowance to use for accessing the Internet or not. But when your allowance is all used up for the month, it is the same for both; you pay more for further Internet access.

In the phone settings menus there will be something you can tick to turn off & on whether you use your phone service provider as the way to contact the Net. I'd advise turning it off until you are confident you know when your phone will access the Net. It allows you to control when it uses up your allowance or costs you more, as appropriate.

In addition there will be a setting to turn off & on the WiFi detection. If you are near a wireless modem (for your PC internet access) or near one you know the password for (some public places provide access for "free") then you should be able to experiment on how to select one of the WiFi networks your phone detects, and logging on to it. Once done, whilst you remain close to the modem, your phone can access the Internet via it, for no further cost to you, rather than paying your service provider for access.

But without someone there to show you it is a case of playing with the menus and trying things, I think. Hopefully the phone user guide will help you.
