Well I bought one today.
Does anyone remember listening to Radio Luxembourg under the bed covers in the 60's. Well that's exactly what it sounds like. TINNY. I feel I have wasted my money. How much do you have to spend to get a decent sound? I bought a Bush one £79.

Yes, I remember listening to Radio Lux. I didn`t listen to it under the bed covers though. I listened to it on my Grundig radio and I bought the Grundig radio because it had the best sound. Did you listen to the radio before you bought it? I`m not sure what Bush radios sound like these days but have you got some settings where you can change the bass/treblle/tone?
Take it back then. We listened to several while in the shops.
I boyght a friend a Roberts one, she seems happy with it

I've got a Pure Evoke. It's excellent.
A DAB radio will give good reception but if you want good sound quality plug it in to a Marshall Amp system !
Yes I remember the thread where two people recommended Pure, I don't recall anyone suggesting Bush though.

You did try it for sound quality in the shop didn't you.....

I think I will take it back tomorrow. I will have to get the packaging out of the bin though.

Eccles, you can't do that in Argos.
If you do get your money back, I can recommend the Roberts Gemini 15. I`ve got that in the kitchen and the sound is fantastic for a little radio.
Just want to say love to you and micmak xx
Ah. We went to John Lewis. If there's a department store or something near you then might be better to go where you can have a listen. We were in their bloody ages deciding... well I say 'we'... I didn't have a clue which were radios and which were ipod dock thingies.
I have a sony dab in the car, it sounds great and I don't have to keep changing from fm, mw, lw. All in one place!
Well I'm sorry Jeza but you could have a) followed he advice you were given or b) if you wanted to go of piste find a store where you could try before you buy.

It's not necessarily about how much you spend, style over substance and all that.

Thanks sibton.

Eccles my nearest department stores are in Leeds. Do you know what it's like trying to park there. It's also 15 miles away. I read what Argos said about the radio and it sounded good. That's why I bought it.
Jeza, there's a really cheap car park just off Vicar lane. Behind the old NCP car park. £1 an hour.
Argos are not going to say 'this radio is going to take you back to your youth when you used to listen to Radio Luxembourg under your fed covers'.

You asked for recommendations and didn't heed them, instead you took on board marketing blurb.
Question Author
It's not the price of parking zac, it's getting a space.
No problem there Jeza. It's a bit unknown.
Question Author
Eccles, why are you being so brusque with me. What have I done to upset you?
