Why not buy a bottle of `No More Spiders` from Superbuys, B&Q, etc, and stop them entering the house by spraying around all windows and doors?

I've got one (received it as a secret santa present!) and its had very good use - I like the long handle so I don't have to get anywhere near the critter!
