...reporters wear branded clothing on the news?
For at least the last 2 nights the presenter in Japan has been wearing a coat with the 'Berghaus' logo prominently on display.

A food mixer on 'This Morning' placed in the background of the set warrants a warning but not this. Why?

I take your point, but if someone is reporting a disaster, I don't really care what he's wearing.
Loads of other shows where you can view Products,Just watch Come Dine With Me or Coronation Street in Dev and Rita's shops, loads of Branded Cigs on display.
The difference is that for product placement, the programme maker has been paid to feature the product. In Corrie, although manufacturers may have provided the products to be shown on screen, no payment has been made for doing so,
Outdoor clothing is hard to find without a logo. I don't think it is practical to require BBC staff to remove or cover it up.

or independent TV companies
I'm sure I remember something in recent months hearing that product placement is now allowed to a certain extreme, even on the BBC. I think it's mostly due to practicality reasons. For example, watching Eastenders, in the corner shop you will notice the shelves filled with real branded items. It's far easier then making up fake products, etc.
Yes, real products can be used now in programmes.
Remember Blue Peter 'make it' sections, where the 'Kellogs' on the corn flakes box was covered over with tape, but the cockrel was still clearly visible!
"For example, watching Eastenders, in the corner shop you will notice the shelves filled with real branded items ..."

But most of the stuff in their homes is from Lidl. Seeing as they only ever shop in the local Minute-Mart, how is this possible?
After watching the BBC News I have an urge to buy a North Face jacket.
Dear News presenter I understand that it is snowing in Japan and therefor freezing could you please in future present to camera naked in case you inadvetantly advertise something in case you offend someone.

P.s this take priority over the reporting of 10,000 deaths.

Yours a pedant.
Jammy Dodgers on Corrie tonight, my H said he fancied some so we're off to the corner shop tomorrow. - It Works.

Give it a few years and PP may cut out the need for ad breaks.

jem.
We used to have fun playing 'Guess the product'. Nigella's 'honeycomb chocolate bar' in an orange wrapper was definitely a Crunchie. Well, it whiled away an eveniing!
They've spoilt it now.
