Probably needs a new washer
given the drip is water ... and the water comes out of the tap, up the pipe and out of the head ... where would you suppose you should look next?

Won't bother with you TROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My shower is a Gainsborough power shower if that narrows it down a bit.
Troll was right.

Just because your showerhead was leaking why do you assume the problem is with the showerhead.

If no water was coming up the pipe there would be nothing to drip through the showerhead.

So maybe it is something further up the system that was allowing water to seep through, like maybe a switch not turning off properly.
It is probably the solenoid that doesn't close the valve properly. If you have a stopvalve to the water supply for the shower, just turn that off to stop the dripping. Don't forget to turn it on when you have a shower.

It can't hurt to to ring a couple of local plumbers tomorrow and explain the problem. Make sure you have the Model and number handy. They'll tell you in a flash, dump or fix.
The problem is the tap washers, quite a simple job to replace. Just turn off the water first!
Sometimes the obvious place to look is the hardest place to find. I can only assume that if you have an electrical appliance that doesn't switch on you assume its faulty without checking the fuse.
lol

knob!!!!!!!!

you should check the knob

Actually Merlin you assume wrong! As this is a powershower I don't want to mess with it. As others have suggested that it could be a washer, where would that be exactly? As for you Troll........who are you calling a Knob?
