My garden pond has suddenly become covered with bubbles and foam. Never experienced this in the many years it has been in place. It is 3 meters square and a metre deep with good pump & fountain (both clean and working) and a good variety of fish. Any suggestions?

any chance the neighbour's kids have given it a squirt of washing up liquid? Not being facetious, there's a fountain nearby that gets a packet of washing powder about once a month.

No, Whickerman, definitely not an additive of any kind: All clear bubbles, a bit like air.
Any frogs about?
we had exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't work out what caused it, but put it down to the frog spawn dispersing, it has all cleared now with no intervention, and has done no harm to the fish or plants.

Yes, we do have frogs, you may be right, we will wait and watch. Many thanks everyone.
