I am clearing out a wardobe of old clothes and it is a bit musty. What is the best way of getting a nice fresh smell?

fresh air if you can open a few windows (Brrrrr) and maybe hang some lavender or lemon scented things in there or something like this, from Lakeland

In addition to weeal's helpful answer, you could try spraying some Febreeze in there. They do a couple of nice fragrances now.
Hang a couple of shhets of Bounce in there - lovely
Cedar wood baubles. They are threaded on a loop of ribbon. From Wilkinsons, and other general domestic goods stores.
I have used scented soaps, that works for a long time. You can also buy potpourri and put it in a cut nylon stocking and just throw either in the back out of the way.
