I inadvertently managed to spill water on a plug socket last night and this morning none of the sockets in the room were working. I checked the fuse box and sure enough one of the switches had switched off. I flicked it back up but it keeps going off immediately. Do I need to change it or just need to wait for my socket to dry out?!

You can either wait for it to dry out which could be a while. Or take the socket of its mounting box and dry it out, inspect it. Obviosly make sure the mains trip is off!! If its damaged in any way replace it- though its unlikely just with water spillage
Dry it out with your hairdryer is the easiest, but unscrew socket from wall and just ease it out a little so you can direct heat in there.

Great tip but what do I plug the hairdryer into?????
Hi camille, for the cost of a new socket, change it, if it was switched on when the water went onto it, it may well have started arcing before it tripped. once it has started doing that it is not worth messing about with, make sure the whole supply is isolated, remove socket, dry back box with tissue and replace socket, obviously make sure wires go into correct terminals, good luck, Ray
You would have to ask that wouldn't you!!!

Its the thought that counts!!
