It depends on too many things to give an answer.

Where is it?
How big is it?
How is it heated?
What council tax band is it in?
Is it old or new?
Well insulated and double glazed?
Is the water on meter?
Is it considered a safe area for insurance purposes?
All electric?

As a rough guide - a lot more than you would expect usually covers it.
littlemissx if you are on your own then you could rent somewhere small like a studio flat which could be anything between 300 - 500. If you were careful then you could budget monthly say, 50 gas and electric, 75 council tax, 10 tv licence, then there would be your phone bill, food, clothes, make up, hair etc. You would probably need around 1,000 depending on your needs. Of course that doesn't include any savings, pension or insurances. Good luck.

I have a 3 bedroom house that I pay a mortgage on. Monthly I pay:

Mortgage - 320

Rates/council tax - 50

Electric - 18

TV licence - 10

Phone Bill - 20

Don't forget the water bills as well.
