I've just moved into a property that has a septic tank. Should I be using specialised cleaning products in the toilet/sink/dishwasher, etc. or can I continue to use bleach, Harpic, etc?

We have a septic tank. I use all the usual products. No problem. Just carry on as usual - but don't forget to get it emptied once a year.... or more often if you are a big household.
I have used bleach in our loo for 40years. OH has given up telling me off. It still works well and gets emptied rarely. It's s very old brick built one (not legal now) but the chap who empties it says it works better than the newer ones. My neighbour had a new one installed and it needs emptying regularly.
No feminine hygiene products or coloured loo paper. We were also told not to use the toilet duck things.
We have an old brick one too which we have emptied annually. I dont use bleach myself, but in moderate amounts it wouldnt have an adverse affect if you did. Just avoid the very harsh drain cleaners and the like.
As the others have said, carry on.

In a perfect world, you wouldn't want to use any product that kills off the biological processes that go on inside a septic tank.

But, in the real world, under normal use, the tank will go on working. Just the usual yearly "de-sludging".
