Removing an iron-on transfer

In an effort to save a bit of cash, I decided to use iron-on playboy transfers on my daughters duvet set. I have not succeeded and left some of the backing paper on the cover. To pick it off will take ages and treating it like chewing gum (freezing) hasn't helped neither has soaking it in very hot water.

Anyone know the easiest way to remove it?

Have you tried re ironing with a sheet of cotton or non stick paper over the transfer then pulling the paper off while it is still hot?
