Hi tinks, silver christening mug?
a children's bible is the traditional present, followed by a silver crucifix, or a silver bracelet. However, having just had my child christened, and ending up with (frankly)a lot of "stuff" that she'll never really care about (including 4 picture frames and 5 money boxes), i would say "ask the parents"

good evening tinkerbel

i started off savings accounts for both my god-daughters which mature at age 18
Newspaper dated the birth day, & (if it's a girl) fashion magazine and maybe a teenage mag. My Godchildren loved them. Plant a tree.
I still have my prayer book, a gift from my godmother.
My eldest got a framed tapestry, sewn by his Godmum, with his name, DOB , weight when born and place of birth with Beatrix Potter characters surrounding it. I love it, it's a real keepsake.

I had another done for my daughter when she was born to match.
I bought my grandson a coin set (all new) in a presentation box consisting of all the old coins before decimalization, from the Royal Mint.

Something of interest for him when he gets older.
I personally wouldn't buy anything religious, unless the parents are!
one would presume if the baby is getting christened, at least one of the parents are religious

Not necessarily bednobs, lots of parents have their children christened, but hardly ever go to church except for a wedding or a funeral, I for one!
Go on ebay and type in christening gifts, beautiful ideas on there. I recently bought a lovely personalised wall plaque in blue and cream with all the relevant details printed on, the mum loved it AND they show you how it looks so you can edit if necessary. Good luck.
A personalised crib-quilt.
Premium bonds
Why would you have your child christened if you didn't believe in God?
well, i have to admit, i did. However, my husband does believe, and it was him that wanted her christened. Chritianity seems a somewhat benign option to me, so i agreed :)
How about one of those albums that you put things in...first baby photo ,first lock of hair etc
My kids were given a set of bunnykins china. Bowl plate and mug. They used them for years and loved them. I still have the sets waiting for the grand kids
