it tends to happen when you grow stuff like mint indoors. The flies hatch when the plant is overwatered. Easiest thing to do is to pick some shoots off the mint, wash them well to get the sticky off and root in a glass of water then replant in fresh earth and a fresh pot. Discard the original.

We keep several herbs by the kitchen window and whenever we get tiny flies have found that a weak solution of wasting up liquid sprayed or brushed on the leaves does the trick.

whitefly as suggested by woofgang best to start fresh you can spray with any food safe pesticide but make sure you rise the mint well before using it
