Driveway issue

I have a gravel driveway and the part of the pavement that was dropped down by the council it quite narrow, due to a raised drain covering on one side, and a tree on the other side. A car has started to park ouside on the road, but the front of the car is overhanging my drive entrance by about 10 inches, which doesnt sound a lot, but is making it very very hard to reverse out or drive in, because to avoid hitting this car I now have to reverse over the raised drain on one side, which means my car then drops straight down onto the road with a lound clunk underneath, no matter how slowly I do it.Again, driving in, the left side of the car I have to mountstraight up onto the drain, instead of the dropped kerb. I know I don't own the road, and I don't think the car owner realises how difficult they are making it for me -I don't even know who's car it is( I just look out and it is back there!) but if i put a polite note on their windscreen do you think it would make matters worse??

no reason why it should make it worse better still to try harder to catch them and politely point out the problem it is causing

Yea leave a note or as rowan says better if you can talk to them face to face.

Well When I went to shut the lounge blinds last night it was gone, and when I came downstairs at 7am it was back lol. I may have to sleep in the driveway.

Even though it might not seem like it when you read some posts most people people respond fairly well to a reasonable request. Just drop him a note explaining the situation and asking him if he could park 2-3ft further forward/back and all being well everybody will be happy.

Write a note, and put it under one of the windsrceen wipers.

and don't forget the second note saying thank you that makes a big difference when they comply

I think sometimes people just don't realise they are causing a problem. To them it might look like it's enough space but it's different when you'r in the car trying to get in or out.

I have a similar problem with the entrance to work. People often park as close to either side as possible which completely wipes out any view you have of the road you're about to pull onto (which is a 50mph). It can make it a bit hair raising at times. If it was always the same vehicle then I'd definitely put a polite note asking them to park a bit further back.

As posted earlier, I'd add the "I'd really not like to cause any accidental damage" and add that as a footnote.

That'd stop me parking so close.

Just noticed you don't say what's on the other side of this car as in whether there's enough space for them to move up or not?

ZebUK - there is 3 foot of road behind their car where they could reverse back a bit.
