Do I need a plumber or an electrician

I can have central heating or hot water but cannot have them both on at the same time. The timer also goes wrong if I try and put them on together. Does anyone know what's wrong and also if I need a plumber or an electrician?
Many thanks
Lorraine

I think you need a heating engineer, but I am far from any sort of expert.

Who does your annual service?
As Dave says, you need a heating engineer.

As always, Lorraine, it depends. If your controls are part of a boiler, then you'll need a boiler guy. If it's a separate controller, then it should be replaced by an electrician. In practice, a good boiler fitter would be able to deal with either.
