comfy mattress

I ache and suffer terribly with a nasty £20 matress i wake off and on all night and ache for the first few hours after getting up, so iv decided to invest in a new matress I have a single bed that has wooden slats underneath and recently spent £50 on a fluffy feathered matress topper which made no difference at all it almost seems worse.I can spend up to £300 on the matress it seems a hell of a lot for one but im desperate for a comfy bed, iv been looking at memory foam ones has anyone any experience of buying theese or any matresses that anyone can recomend would be appreciated, i think i lean towards a firm matress please help xx

I have no experience of memory foam, but as we spend up to one third of our lives in bed(I think I spend more!) it doesn't seem much to spend £300(or more) on a mattress/bed?
When I moved down here from London 12 years ago,I bought a double divan bed with fully sprung matress(£1,500),I couldn't believe the difference;I slept(and still sleep) like a log.
Try and bear that in mind when you buy a new mattress/bed
We forget just what a bad nights sleep can be like, and tend to begrudge money spent on what(we think) is something that is not going to be remembered in the morning.
How wrong we can be!

Tempur is the only way to go. As I've said before in posts about matresses, since having my Tempur, I no longer wake up aching all over. It's wonderful and well worth the money. We spend a third of our lives sleeping, so important to have a good quality matress.

I agree totally with that. the Tempur mattresses are excellent. It's like sleeping on air. Since ours are guaranted for 10 years or so, I think it's WELL worth the outlay.

My friend was in this field of work & basicley if you are light weight you need a soft matress , If you are on the heavy side you need a soft matress. Hope this helps.

i got a new bedstead and mattress last week. we invested in a memory foam topped mattress, and MY GOD is it good!!! i sleep like a baby now! we were going to spend £500 (for a kingsize mattress) from MFI, but shopped around and managed to get one for £300, from a smaller shop. definately worth buying... but shop around and don't always go for the bigger named ones.
