I keep looking at the huge seed you get from avocados and thinking I ought to try planting one.Has anyone ever managed to germinate one of these? I know I could google but I much prefer real peoples answers!
Any special technique? Did you manage to get a decent planr out of it? Indoors or outdoors?

The daughter of a friend of mine planted one, if I remember correctly, it did grow to a plant in thend but no avocado's. I'd need to double check that information though.

You can grow it - its not particularly attractive my neighbour has one... One tall skinny stem with leaves on the top...

my friend has a beautiful plant she grew from a seed. It reminds me of the seventies "cheese plant".

I grew one and had it for years. They are very easy to grow,. I think I just stuck the stone in some compost, but it was years ago and I can't really remember. Anyway, as Katerich48 has said it was a tall skinny plant with leaves at the top - not at all inspiring. It lived for years. I think I put it out in the garden in its pot eventually and it died!
I have just found this burnhal. I obviously should have done more with my poor advocado plant.
