After some gruelling hours with connecting with this horrible full fibre - guys said there was blockage on the road and new diggers would have to come out etc cos they weren't allowed to touch the road - anyway am finally on and I rang my neighbour who has helped me so much and she answered - "who's this" - i said me Jenny - oh she said you have got a new number.

I contacted the fibre guys and they said they had nothing to do with new number and so I need to contact BT again.

Neighbour when she comes off work - is going to ring BT again.

Will I be able to get my old number back.

JJ I think BT would have told you if they were going to change your number and told you what it will be.
I'm getting connected to full fibre on the 25th and have been told that I keep the same number etc. Maybe give them a ring?

yes neighbour is going to ring hopefully when she comes home from work -
Have your friend ring your old number and see if it works

the fibre guys (maybe this could be the problem) they said I won't be able to receive calls until 12 tomorrow but I could make calls out which is why I rang my neighbour who didn't recognise the funny number. anyway she will be home soon - only the fact I need my hearing help ie flashing lights and loud noise - I would leave BT forever. This has been my worst nightmare as I have lost so much independence - my neighbour must have made (from last February) about 70 calls.
JJ is it a mobile phone or a landline?
If that's the case, they've probably given you a temporary number until tomorrow.

Hi JJ, When you ring BT you must insist that you signed up to their 'All Fibre' package on the condition that your old telephone number would be PORTED across!

PORTING is a technical term used in telecommunication jargon. It is the process by where the software in the telephone exchange can enable/disable your telephone number being transferred. This could be to a new ISP (Internet Service Provider), Virgin Media or Vodafone for example.

It might just be in a couple of years time one of the other ISPs is offering a better Broadband deal. To reiterate, if you do swap to another company, then insist upon your old telephone number being PORTED across. Hope this Helps.
I can understand your frustration we had the same problem. Got in fibre had same number for over 40ears at same address. Ran my sister she said why did your name not come up on my phone. Answer different number rang bt oh sorry crossed wires somewhere..message sorted number now changed …..yes changed again but still not our original number. Some weeks on eventually got our number back but biggest surprise we were compensated by BT.
Forgot to add digital voice was installed with our new fibre

Got thru bt. Myself. They have told me I should get my old number within 10 days first guy on phone gave me 14 Oct but I asked email confirming and it said 18 oct
