Can anyone help me identify this plant (weed ?) which has sprung up in the wildlife (i.e. abandoned to nature) section of my garden. It is over 2 metres tall.

Gee, thanks all for such prompt responses.
If you have a smart phone there's a fantastic app called PlantNet which will identify plants and bushes by their leaves / flowers or even stems/bark.
Small birds will enjoy the seeds.
The flowers are lovely too.
Hopefully the seeds will attract lots of goldfinches, they love them.

That's good roopower, there's several nesting in my wild hedge. They sit on the wire above it spying on me in the garden.

Yes, definitely teazel but I don't think I've ever seen one so tall before!.

It's a teasel Canary.
I've got them here. They used to be used in cloth factories, to tease the thread straight, it's where the word tease comes from.
