My dad went through the windscreen of a car in the 70s. He was the passenger and obviously not wearing a seat belt and the driver was half cut...

It is a sign of how attitudes have changed (for the better) though
When I was young our pub sold mints and chewing gum!
Gosh!....I don't recall that, Dave.....four pints was okay?......!
Holy cow. How times have changed!
I find that strange because the DD limit in England is the same as it was when introduced in 1967 and four pints was NEVER OK.
If that's true Jack it wasn't well enforced or advertised. Growing up in a pub I often seen people getting into cars after a skin full.
I'll make it an 'alf then.
In the early days, especially in rural areas, the attitude of the police was rather more relaxed.

sunny-dave's link was issued by H.M.G. Health Commission 1972. If I remember rightly, most cars were still 4 gears and lots of the old 3 speed on the road. In 1972 I could have had 4 pints and flown a spitfire.
I thought that poster mean't change to lager for your fifth.
