Can Anyone Identify This Plant/weed ?

It appeared out of the blue and I am curious to know what it is, before I dig it up.

To eliminate or confirm it being 'Japanese Knotweed', simply look at a cross section of the stem to see if it is hollow. Personally I doubt if it is.

Could be goat willow/pussy willow.
Its a bit like the cuckoo of the plant world, sneaking into plant pots from the nursery.

Is it growing fast?
take expert advice as it could be the dreaded Japanese Knotweed.
Please look it upon google.
there is some growing on the verge about 10 miles from where I live that looks the same
the council have cordoned it of for radical treatment as it can grow several metres down aand is already growing thru the tarmac of the busy road.

Thanks for all your replies. I have doubts about it being Japanese knotweed, as the shape and size of the leaves differs and the stems are not bamboo-like (no knotty leaf joints) However, I will seek professional advice before attempting to dig it out.

Nothing like Russian vine! and I dont think it is Japanese Knotweed.

Agree with Ratter. Leaves are nothing like the heart shape of knotweed and it looks nothing like Russian Vine either except perhaps the flowers. Are they now browned off, what colour were they?

@Prudie... The flowers are on an adjacent plant. No flowers have formed on the suject plant

@Robinia... In the absence of a positive identification, at least the suggestion to check whether or not the stems are hollow will confirm or disprove that the plant is Japanese knotweed. Like Chipchopper, I believe that it isn't. (I haven't checked yet)
