I have asked this question before but nobody answered.

When I go into email and want to look at it - three quarters of the message just comes up - the rest is obscured. I need to know a way of opening the page fully.

I tried Settings but to no avail. Thanks for any replies.

Obscured by what JJ? Any e-mails of length have to be scrolled down to read, you don't mean that do you?
If you click on 'other actions' then 'open in new window' the Email opens in a full page. At least mine does, I use Thunderbird.

as I say it is difficult to explain in black and white - what I mean that you can only SEE three quarters of the email ie from left to right of page and remainder quarter you can't see.

I use firefox browser - but am in hotmail/outlook. Does that explain better - will try and give you an example below

Members of the society will meet ton
and everybody will be welcome to co
and enjoy all the blah blah
Firstly, are you using webmail or an email client? (Webmail is where you use the same web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, as you do to view pages here on AB. An email client is a totally separate program, such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird, that is used specifically for accessing your email account and not for viewing the web).

Then:
(a) if it's webmail, please tell us the provider (e.g.Yahoo or Gmail) ; or
(b) if it's an email client, please tell us which one you're using.

Then there's a chance we might actually know what you're on about!

However, as a bit of a random guess, it's possible that you should EITHER be looking for a scroll bar at the side of the email (as there is at the side of this web page), enabling you to move up or down OR moving the obstruction (that's hiding the lower part of the email) down by placing your mouse cursor over the top of it and then dragging it downwards.

thanks Chris - I am aware of the bar to slide over but there isn't any. It is by the way a commercial thing as you know "martin's help" - not the right name but he tells you ways of saving money.
I must learn to type faster!

There's probably a scroll bar at the bottom of the email that will let you move from left to right. Alternatively there might be a 'view full page' button or the option to close whatever panel is blocking your view. (I wouldn't touch the dreaded Hotmail/Outlook with a million of the proverbial bargepoles, so it's hard for me to imagine what you're seeing there).
That looks like the right hand side is chopped off.As Chris says is their a slide bar at the bottom that you can move and see the rest of the email or do the words just stop mid-stream? As a non-techie I'd also be looking at my screen resolution settings (size)

There is a scroll bar at the side but the page remains three quarters even you scroll up and down.
Apologies if this is a stupid answer. Could the email window be partially minimised, making the bottom scroll bar disappear?. I seem to remember doing this myself once, and was quite puzzled.

Hi Dipee

There is only a scroll bar at the right side and even though you scroll up and down - still you can't see full page.

No scroll bar at all at the bottom. The email is Money's money tips.
Have you maximised your screen at all, conne? On my screen there is a little number at bottom right - mine says 125% because I like to see the print a little larger - but if I reduce that back to 100% (by clicking on the arrow beside it) then I can get a full page on the screen. Just a thought...
That sounds a bit like clicking on my 'other actions' button Boxtops, opens in a full screen. Probably something similar on different Email clients.
Jennyjoan, may be, if you have a good look round the screen on your open Email, you will see something that will open up yours.
Question Author
I have looked for that button - nope - have minimised and maximised - nope.

I got a bit of result in that I clicked onto left bar (you know if you were on office - and you want margins bigger) clicked on that - by action - moved it to the left and some of the page came up but still not full page.

This is what it says at top

Martin's Money Tips Email. Viewing on a mobile, or can't see full email properly (may affect Gmail/Yahoo users)
what happens if you cflick control and the minus key? That should make your text smaller
Question Author
sorry Jno - nothing to do with that - if you see previous postings - only 3 quarters of the page comes up. Anyway not the end of the world but would like to see Martin's tips as they can be interesting.
does it say 'message truncated' anywhere?

if so, click on this, it should open it up
Question Author
no, jno - no truncation anywhere. I have clicked onto various options at head of email but nothing there
A few suggestions come to mind:

1. When you scroll to the very bottom of the email in question, is there no horizontal scroll bar there?

2. Can you forward the email to another email account, to see if it reads better there?

3. You might try highlighting the text to copy and paste into a word document to see how it reads there. To highlight, drag cursor through page, top to bottom, while holding mouse button down. Use [Ctrl]+c to copy text, then paste in a word document.
Question Author
Hi Mib - copied email to word but it didn't work either.
