I saw a lovely clump of flowers in my neighbours garden this am and I just HAVE to have them!

They are very tall, as in probably 5-6 foot in height, similar to a gladioli in looks as in very tall stems with small long shiny green leaves, but only have flowers at the very top and they were bright red.

Sorry it's a little vague!

Failing any ID I'll knock and ask them what it is (I might even get a cutting) :-)

TIA

i have some not sure on the name of red ones but also have a smaller variety of orange ones they are montbretia. red ones may be hemerocallis (day lily)
but i would ask fotr a clump as they split very well.
If you want identification then a photo link would be useful.
What about this one? Maybe it's weed though. http://tinypic.com/r/2d7g76a/6
Lupins?
Crocosmia 'Lucifer'
Agree with Rowan - but might also be a red hemerocallis

I knocked and asked my neoughbour but she couldn't remember what they were but gave me some anyways and they are now in my garden!

I'm certain they are the Crocosmia Lucifer as the flowers are very similar to my orange Montbretia.

Thanks all

Susie
Pretty, whatever they are.
Susie I have loads of the blessed things they spread like wildfire.
I have a leylandii hedge in my back garden which is cut back twice yearly in March and September to a height of six feet. I keep it at this height so I cannot see next doors `garden` as it has been left unattended for years and I even have to cut through brambles etc in her garden to maintain my hedge on her side. Her neighbour on her other side with a very small garden has taken over this `garden` and completely cleared the area and as far as I can gather it is being used as a play area for her children. Whilst I have no problem with this situation I was aggrieved to come home on Thursday evening to find my hedge had been cut back [ the tops and their side ] without being asked, even though they were working in the garden and I didn`t go out until 2.30 pm. I don`t want to cause a huge fuss but am I not right in thinking I should have been consulted as the hedge is well within my boundary and is maintained so that it doesn`t in fringe their space?
Sorry i posted in wrong place Glaikityin.
if its crocosmia be careful, they can spread like wildfire....lovely for dry groundcover where nothing else will grow though
