White vinegar for

killing weeds?
A friend of mine told me that spraying weeds with white vinegar will kill them.
Does it work anyone -- please.

It certainly kills lettuces when mixed with a little olive oil and sprinkled on.

Jomifl-- made me laugh that, come round and I'll prepare one for you.
I used ordinary vinegar on dandelions and it worked .
Brenda, I live in SW France, but thanks for the offer. By the way I don't think the colour of the vinegar makes much difference though if you are weedkilling around beetroot plants I suggest red wine vinegar ;-)

That's interesting, don't suppose it would kill my weeds and not the grass (save the mutant wild grass which seems to be taking over) or is that wishful thinking?
Brenda, some of our local wine is improved by turning it into vinegar.
