About a fortnight ago I optimisticly planted out the hanging-baskets and window boxes wiyh a mix of snardragon , impatiens , petunia , senetti and lobellia . The thing is that a frost of up to -1 is forecast by some sources and yes I can feel a drop in the air temp.
I was wondering if I should try to protect the plants , none of which is in flower , and if so , how would I go about it ?
Many thanks
Marty
If it's at all possible bring them inside, or else do what I do. I bring the containers as close as possible to the outside walls of the house and cover them with garden fleece, bubble wrap, or polythene. I have been known in the past to put large plastic bags over my hanging baskets to protect them from a late frost.
We aim to please .. I,ve just got back from the allotment a few minutes ago. I am taking no chances and have just covered 6 rows of potatoes with fleece.
Molly thanks you for your kind words Marty.
Keep an eye out on your impatiens as there is a virus going round which is killing busy lizzies, mine took a beating last summer, planning to plant something else this year.
