Unless you're incredibly lucky (and, say, just happen to find a company that's closing down in a few days time) you won't beat four or five pounds per square metre. So go for one of those offers. (I checked other suppliers, such as CarpetRight, and none of them come anywhere near matching those prices).

B&Q's cheaper stuff starts from around £4 or £5 per square metre but you might need to pay perhaps £7 to £10 per square metre to find something your really like:

(NB: There's currently a special offer on. Many of those prices will rise after Thursday).

Wickes also have a special offer currently running (until next Tuesday). Their prices start from around £5 per square metre, so they might also be worth considering:

(You need to click through to find the 'per square metre' prices)

It's for a property I intend to leave soon so I don't really want to send too much
Is it worth looking around or is there little difference in the prices?

Best answer for you again B
Ric - have you looked at lino? My mate has wood effect lino and I didn't know it wasn't real.

I have wood effect lino in the bathroom and its very good but this is for the hallway and the kitchen so I think something a little thicker would be more better
We've had wood effect lino in our kitchen and hall for 12 years. It was there when we moved in and took us 3 years to realise it wasn't laminate - not that I know if it's any cheaper.
